Horton, Pelion, Greece
Horton, Pelion, Greece

Here's a cool picture of Horton, taken during the Easter holidays from the dirt road that connects Horton and Metohi. The view is really magificent, don't you think?

Black-headed Gull Larus ridibundus
Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus)

Don't let the picture fool you... This is, indeed, a Black-headed Gull, or so I think. However, it is sporting its winter plumage! During the summer, the heads actually become brown, but often look black from a distance. Although rare in the Pelion region, I once happened upon a flock, some years back, in the vicinity of Alykes, a village on the outskirts of Volos.

The picture was taken in Eurodisney, Paris, in December 2007. Birds there, having become accustomed to being fed by visitors, readily approach you to grab a quick snack!
