Pelion Postcards
"On Pelion among the chestnut trees, the Centaur's shirt slipped through the leaves to fold around my body, as I climbed the slope and the sea came after me climbing, too, like mercury in a thermometer, till we found the mountain waters.
G. Seferis, "Wherever I travel, Greece wounds me"
All photographs on this page were taken by my favorite photographer, Michalis Pornalis. Michalis studied dentistry at the University of Athens and earned a postgraduate degree in Sweden, where he also attended photography workshops.
He currently works as a professional photographer and publisher in Volos and frequently does contract work for National Geographic. One of his latest book, entitled "Pelion of Light and Colours", is really out of this world and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Click here to visit Michalis' site, although it really doesn't do justice to his rich talent.
Note: Images open in a new window, so if you've got some kind of pop-up blocker installed and can't view them, press the CTRL key and click the tumbnails at the same time.

Milina
A beautiful image of a typical summer sunset in Milina. The black landmass in the near background is Cape Capri, the northernmost edge of Alatas Isle.

Tzasteni
Another fantastic shot, this time of Tzasteni, a locale some distance away from Milina, on the road to Trikeri. The islet in the background is Prasouda, which is home to an interesting 17th century monastery.

Horto
A great spring shot of Horto, amongst a bunch of flowering purple Bougainvilleas (Bougainvillea glabra).

Pagania
A rather nostalgic picture of Pagania, a beach on the outskirts of Horto. Unfortunately, it's not as peaceful since Sun Sail took a hold of it, some years back, but it's still quite beautiful, especially during the off-season.

Mourtias
A breathtaking photo of Mourtias, my favorite beach on the Aegean coast. The statue-like rocks are really awesome, don't you think?

Paltsi
A nice photograph of Paltsi, a neat beach on the Aegean coast, home of the famous Alexander Prantzos, a cousin who is particularly popular with members of the opposite sex!

Platanias
Cool picture, albeit somewhat dark, of Platanias, a nice little village on the Aegean coast. From here, you can hitch a boat ride to the island of Skiathos.
