What's New
"Never discourage anyone...who continually makes progress, no matter how slow."
Plato
I decided to post this page in response to the following message I got from a friend.
"Dear Sir, I am a Pelion Nature fan, looking forward to an updated version of your site. Unfortunately, I have been waiting for an update since last week. When will I be able to see the next incredible, updated version of this fantastic site????"
Do you detect a trace of irony? Nah, must be me...

I have added some new pictures of the Greater Periwinkle and the White Rockrose, which I took in Pelion during the Easter holidays. There are now 5 images in each of the aforesaid galleries. I hope you like them.
And here's some good news: within a couple of weeks from going live, the search string "Pelion" brings this site up on the first page of the Yahoo! and Altavista results, and on the third page of the Google results. This achievement could not have been accomplished without the help of all the Webmasters, who had linked to my old site and who, upon my request, updated the associated links. I would like to thank all of them for their contribution.

When I decided to redesign my old site, some time ago, to get rid of the wretched frames, I thought it'd take me no more than three months. Now, approximately six years later I'm done! Of course, various events slowed my progress. One of those was my decision to make the pages W3C compliant, when I was practically done. This meant changing the markup on every single page, for reasons that are not very clear to me. For example, I still don't understand why the center or underline elements had to become... deprecated, but I guess you don't really want to know.
Anyway, while redoing the site, I managed to collect lots of information about various destinations and archaeological sites in the Pelion region, and amassed a heap of new photographs, mainly depicting the area's fauna and flora. So, I believe that this site will eventually become one of the better Pelion sites, provided, of course, that I'll get around to working on it.
My new venture is to translate this site into Greek. I have, again, estimated it will take me three months to finish; I hope it doesn't take another six years. At the same time, I will also be updating the English version, at a slower rate, however. I will be uploading at least one plant and one animal profile, as well as one wallpaper every month. So keep coming back :-)
