A Longhorn Beetle
Corymbia cordigera
A handsome insect, approximately 20 mm (3/4 in) in length, with bright red elytra, which feature a black, heart-shaped marking approximately in the middle. It is but one of the many Longhorn Beetles that "hang out" around Horto. It is fully winged and flies well by day. Like other members of its family, it feeds on flowers, particularly the pollen and leaves.
Larvae are, more than likely, wood-eaters. They probably prefer deciduous and coniferous trees, although this information has not been validated.
